Torttila wraps

8 February 2009 by peashavepoints

So tried the new flour wheat fajitas wraps from weight watchers today, needless to say we were left very dissapointed.

Firstly there was only 5 on the pack, not the advertised 6. Then they were the siZe of side plates and held about a desert spoon of filling. And the last straw was the first set falling to pieces… And my salsa dripping down my hand as a result !

For the price and usability they get little praise from me. Save up a couple more pointS and have proper wraps or at least supermarket low fat ones instead of this rubbish. I am in the process of writing a letter to the random address on the back of the packet (which isn’t a weight watchers address or company I might add!).

Limbos

I have just tried some of the new offerings from Ryvita – Limbos, salt and vinegar. Only 1 point a bag, but its awful! Don’t by them, there very bitter and not very substantial!

Sainsburys…

20 January 2009 by peashavepoints

So for the last few weeks I have been shopping at Sainsburys, for several reasons:

1) appears to be cheapest just now for the type of food I eat (veggie!)
2) better quality cheaper/basics range
3) better variety of foods

So at the checkout I picked up their free food brochure/leaflet. A online version is here.

Thumbing through the first few pages they have ideas for leftovers. A few are very ‘pointy’ like the cheese veg bake, banana and bread pudding (although sounds nice!).. but there is a good vegetable soup idea to use from left overs (my version would be 0pts, as I wouldn’t add corn), and a nice sausage pasta dish. On page 6 there is an idea for left over ham.

I would think of ideas such as a pasta salad? Ham sandwhich? Pea and Ham soup? How about a simple ham sandwich? Nope. They come up with Ham and pepper pizza! Give me strength. This must be solely based on want to sell as much ingredients as possible. So to use up the 2 slices of 30p ham you have left over you will have to invest somewhere in the region of £3-4 in ingredients, including, a pizza base (conveinately in a box of 2) £1.50, only 3 tbsps of passata 77p, oregano 69p, red pepper 72p, 50g of cheese £2.69 for the block… and then add the 2 slices of ham.

On another note, have you tried the new mullerlight chocolate yogurts? I have, and they are still 1.5pts and lush!

Typical

Noreen Blacket firstly gets a round of applause from me and the 100s who have left her messages in her guest book for publishing so much useful information to all WW members. I can understand the reasons behind WW closing the site down, but £4 is a lot for the eating out guide, as like most of the WW products its a rip off (come on £4 for measuring spoons, get real, get a better, bigger set from a pound shop!!), and anyone using the online resources/e-source for WW knows you can’t get any info about most eat out places online and this site was a great starting block to help me loose weight. So here have a look at the site as it might be your last chance;

My lunch

7 January 2009 by peashavepoints

So, to get me in the mood of 2009, I plan to regularly publish my lunch or dinner meal… to a) make me aware of points again, and b) to embaress myself on the odd occasion! and to ultimately share or maybe inspire anyone else for some veggie or veggie/fish alternatives to meals.

So here is today’s lunch -
Big potato and plenty of filling!

1) Half a tin of tuna (Sainsbury’s basic tuna chunks) – 1pt
2) Tablespoon of sweetcorn 0.5pts
3) 3 grated carrots – 0pts
4) 60g of Hellmans Extra light mayo – 0.5pt

Mixed in a bowl…

Filling: 2pts = large portion of filling at that!

Potato: 3pts (weighed on WW scales)

Total filling warm lunch points – 5pts. Usually have a potato at 2 or 2.5 pts but this was the large tattie in the bag of 4 spuds – typical!
I make my potato interesting by adding a small splash of Nando’s garlic Peri Peri sauce in it at no extra points cost.
